Have a great summer wedding!

Summer Weddings The warm weather, the flowers, the freedom to have your wedding outdoors — all these make summer weddings so fun, romantic and popular!

How do you set your summer wedding apart? Here are some of my best ideas:

Wear a dress in flowing fabric that will catch the summer breeze. Choose a style that’s light and adorned with floral beading or silk flower accents, lace, ruffles or a colorful sash in your wedding colors for a unique look.

• Wear a wrap of lace or chiffon to cover your bare arms in the evening and to protect your skin from the sun.

• Think about accents that will catch the sunlight and make you sparkle — crystal beading on your dress, a sparkling tiara or rhinestone clip in your hair, or even crystals added to your bouquet.

• For flowers, choose loose and carefree arrangements to make it look like you picked the blossoms from a field that morning.

• Use plenty of candlelight to maintain a summery glow even after the sun sets.

• Even if your color scheme is classic and elegant (black and white, brown and cream) you can still add a summer touch with a pop of a bright color like red, fuchsia, lime green, teal, or orange. Accent with this color in your flowers, ribbons, personalized napkins at the receptions and in other places to create a unique, fresh look.

• Provide Printed favor fans for guests at outdoor or beach wedding to help keep them cool.

• Let guests know on your invitations or reception cards if the ceremony or reception will be outdoors or at the beach so they can prepare and dress appropriately.

And remember — plan your summer wedding carefully, keep on top of details, and you’ll definitely keep your cool!

How does a busy bride get her guests to Rsvp?

Imagine this- you've sent out your beautiful, elegant wedding invitations and now you can't wait to see which guests reply they are able to celebrate with you.  But your excitement quickly turns to disappointment as only a few responses trickle in over the next few weeks...and then they stop altogether.

Some party and wedding planners estimate that only 50% of invited guests will actually reply to your wedding.  This leaves you with the hard work of tracking down guests' phone numbers and calling them for their reply before your caterer and reception site needs a full head count.

How does a busy bride get her guests to reply?  Including response cards and pre-printed envelopes with your invitations will garner a much better reponse rate than merely printing "Please R.S.V.P." on the invitation.

Try these tips with your respond cards to get guests excited about replying:

  • place a stamp on the response envelope to make it convenient for guests to reply
  • arrange for a variety of methods by which guests can reply in addition to mailing back the card and print them on the card (an email address, a website to reply to, a phone number to call, an answering service to call)
  • print the "respond by" date on the card
  • use creative wording on your response card to catch guests' attention (i.e., "Check your calendar now and drop this in the mail to us today!" or "This will be a wedding you won't want to miss - please reply to use today!" )

Of course, there may be a few wayward guests you may have to call, but being creative and thoughtful with your response card will make that number more manageable!

Happy Planning!

Personalize your wedding with these great tips!

I absolutely love going to a wedding & seeing the cute little trinkets, frames & unique favors that are personalized to truly bring out the wedding couple's style.  It's one thing to have a beautiful, elegant wedding.  It's another to make your wedding completely YOU!

Here's 3 creative ways to personalize your wedding!

Custom Monogram #1. Create a custom monogram or design that speaks to your style.  Have your custom monogram or design printed on all your stationery pieces, napkins, coasters and favors! Use a projector to showcase your unique custom design on the wall in the reception hall.

#2. A photo says a thousand words!  Your wedding is all about Photo Table Number YOU! Take unique photos of you and the groom to set on each table in the reception hall.  Multi-purpose by setting the photo in a table number stand & then put the table number on the opposite side!  You can add your photo to stationery items, candy wrappers, stickers, seals, return address labels & even napkins!

Music CD Jacket #3. Show your guests your music style! Pick out your favorite songs & put them on a cd for your guests to take home & enjoy.  Personalize the cd case with your names and wedding date!  Use your music style to make the reception dinner interactive.  Put a variety of your favorite music selections in a hat & pick guests at random to sing your tune!

Find unique ways to personalize your wedding day & guests will be sure to remember your special day for years to come!  Happy Planning!
